Earth, the Just-Right Planet

Earth is our home. It has freshwater in lakes and rivers. We can drink this water. Earth has dry land. It is warm enough for people, plants, and animals to live on. It has food for all of us. It has oxygen for people and animals to breathe. Earth has everything we need.


Nothing could live on Mercury. It is too close to the sun! Days on Mercury are too hot - hotter than an oven. Nights on Mercury are too cold. Mercury has no water. It is just dry, rocky land. It has almost no air. It has no food.


We couldn't live on Venus. Venus is too hot, day and night. Venus is hotter than the hottest oven! Its thick air traps the sun's heat. Its air is poison to us. Its land has no water. No plants, animals, or people could live on Venus.
