You can juice it or slice it. You can drink it or dice it. It can be tangy or tart, and some make it the subject of art. What is it? It's fruit! Fruit is one of the five major food groups. Fruits contain vitamins, fiber, and nutrients that your body needs. Bananas, for example, contain potassium. Oranges and other citrus fruits are full of vitamin C. Apples, pears, and berries are great sources of dietary fiber. MyPlate, the USDA's nutrition guide, suggests that kids ages 4-13 eat one to one-and-one-half cups of fruit each day.
