Henry Adams: A Teacher Affects Eternity

Henry Adams was a teacher. He was a philosopher and historian as well. You might know the name because the Adams family name is found so much in history.


Adams was born on February 16, 1838, in Boston. He was the great-grandson of John Adams, the second American president. He was the grandson of John Quincy Adams, the sixth American president. Adams's life was filled with culture. He had a library where he could study just about anything. He also met many leaders from around the world.


Henry Adams went to Harvard College from 1854-1858. He wrote for Harvard Magazine. He began to study law in Berlin, but his German was not strong. He traveled in Europe. At the same time, he wrote back and forth with many important people.
