Kenai Fjords National Park

Kenai Fjords National Park is in Alaska. This park is fairly new. It became a national park in 1980. It preserves unique landforms in Alaska. The area was shaped by glaciers, storms, and earthquakes. The Harding Icefield is there. There are at least thirty-eight glaciers. Most of the park is backcountry. If you are looking for an adventure, this may be the park for you.


Kenai Fjords are on the Kenai Peninsula. A fjord is a sea inlet. Fjords are caused by glaciers. The land next to the water has very steep sides. It can reach far inland. The water in a fjord can be very deep. At Kenai Fjords, you can kayak. This is one way to see the fjords up close. However, if you don't know much about kayaking, then you will want to take a guide with you. The glaciers in the fjords can be dangerous. You don't want to get too close.
