"Let It Go"

Let it Go Day

Reading Comprehension for June 23

Remember that new friend I wrote about last week? I mean Olivia, that girl who just moved into my apartment building. It's time for an update on that friendship, and I'll begin by borrowing one of Granddad's favorite expressions: she's as nutty as a fruitcake!

Olivia isn't bothered by anything! If someone cuts in line ahead of us at the pool and I start to tell that person off, Olivia says, "Let it go." If I catch my little sister snooping in my room, Olivia says, "Let it go." If a boy makes fun of us and I complain, Olivia says, "Let it go." And, what do you suppose she says when I'm mad because Mom forgot something important? Yeah, that's right. "Let it go."

I'd like to let her go! I'd let her go take a long walk off a short pier. I'd let her go fly a kite. I'd let her jump off a bridge!

Okay, I've gotta calm down now. I'm taking a deep breath ... there. That's better.
