Sometimes I lose things. Sometimes I lose my keys. Sometimes I lose my wallet. Sometimes I even lose my temper! Everybody loses something once in a while, even really special people. Abraham Lincoln used to lose things. He was our 16th president. But before he was president, Mr. Lincoln had another job. He was a lawyer. At 6 foot 4 inches, he was an awfully tall man. He often wore a long black coat and a tall, black hat. Mr. Lincoln was very smart. He was very kind, too. But, he was also very forgetful! He used to lose very special papers. He would often forget where he had put them. He knew that good lawyers weren't supposed to lose notes and letters. So, Mr. Lincoln decided that he needed a solution for his problem.
