Mark Is Too Busy

"Mark, please help me carry these boxes," his brother said.


"No," Mark said. "I don't have time." Mark was playing in his room. He did not want to stop. He did not want to help his brother.


"Mark, please put these dishes away," his sister said.


"No," Mark said. "That's not any fun." Mark did not want to help his sister. He just wanted to play with his red truck.


"Mark, please read to me," his little sister said. She had a book about ducks. She liked to hear Mark read.


"No," Mark said. "It takes too long." Mark did not want to read to his sister. He just wanted to play with his cars.


"Mark, I am going to the store," his mother said. "Do you want to help me buy food?"


"No," Mark said. "It's too much trouble." Mark did not want to go with his mother. He just wanted to watch TV.


Mark went into the living room. He turned on the TV. Nothing happened. He pushed the button again. Nothing happened.


Mark's brother, Jim, was doing his homework.


"Jim," Mark said, "please fix the TV for me."


"No," Jim said. "I don't have time."


Mark went into the kitchen. His sister Anne was making cookies. She had flour on her hands.


"Anne," Mark said, "please fix the TV for me."
