Meet Allosaurus

Allosaurus (AL-loh-SORE-uss) was a big dinosaur. Its name means "strange lizard."


There were at least seven kinds of Allosaurus. They were forty feet long. That's as long as a school bus! An Allosaurus was twice as tall as a man. It had a very large head. There were knobs and lumps on its skull. What were the knobs and lumps for? No one knows.


Allosaurus walked on two thick legs. Its feet had three toes. Its two front legs were short. It had three toes on each front foot. It had very sharp claws. The claws were six inches long.
