Mount Rainier is a volcano in the state of Washington. A national park protects the land around it. Mount Rainier National Park is the fifth oldest national park in the United States. About two million people visit the park each year. This park has a sister mountain and park in Japan. It is Mount Fuji. Many visitors think it is similar to Mount Rainier.

Mount Rainier is the tallest volcano in the continental United States. It is 14,411 feet above sea level. Its last eruption was about 150 years ago. Scientists predict that it will erupt again.
