My Skin

Hi! My name is Josh and I have skin - lots and lots of skin. I have so much skin that it covers my whole body. That's important. If I didn't have skin, my bones and muscles and stuff would hang out. That's really gross!

Besides holding me together, my skin does some other things for me. It protects my body. It keeps my body from getting too hot or too cold. It lets me feel the things that touch me.

Skin has two layers. The top layer is old and tough. It is just right for covering my body and keeping it safe. The top layer of my skin works hard. It makes new cells all the time. It also makes melanin. Melanin is what makes my skin color. It also helps keep the sun from burning my skin.
