Kids' Goal Setting Week

Reading Comprehension for November 5

Shelly wanted to go to the store. She wanted a new toy.

Mom said, "You will have to save your money."

"But I want a toy," said Shelly. "I don't want money."

"You have a good goal, Shelly," said Mom. "To reach this goal, you will need to save money. Let's go to the store. Then you can choose a toy. You will know how much money you need to save."

Shelly took a long time to choose the toy. She wanted it to be a good toy. Finally she chose one that would cost $12.00.

Shelly tried to think of ways to save money. She really wanted that toy. She could not think of any way she would ever get $12.00. She went to find her dad.

"Daddy, how will I ever be able to get $12.00?" asked Shelly.

"Mom told me about your goal. It is a good way for you to learn how to set a goal. It is good to make plans to reach your goal."
