Sweet Revenge

Cara walked with her friends Jasmine and Corinne down their street. They patted some of the new snow together and threw the balls at each other. The girls didn't see the wall of snow Tyrone, Dwayne, and Bart had built in the next yard. Without warning they were suddenly pelted with hard-packed snowballs.

The three girls began to squeal. They turned and ran, chased by the boys' laughter.

"They make me so mad!" said Jasmine.

"You mean they make you angry," said Corrine.

"Mad, angry, what's the difference?" said Jasmine as she clawed bits of broken snowball from inside her coat hood.

"There could actually be a big difference," Corrine giggled. "But I think that either meaning of the word could apply to you."

"I don't get it," said Jasmine.

Cara helped brush out the last of the snow. "Corrine is just being funny," she said. "Mad can mean crazy as well as angry."

Jasmine smiled. "They do make me crazy sometimes. There has got to be some way we can get back at them. Those snowballs hurt!"
