What is a cowboy? Some people say that cowboys ride horses. Some say they take care of cows. Some say they ride in rodeos. What is a cowgirl? Cowgirls do the same thing that cowboys do. The only difference is they are girls.


On February 25, 1922, Rose Flynt was born. She was a Cherokee-Choctaw Indian. She learned how to do trick roping. She was said to be one of the greatest trick ropers in the world. People started calling her "Queen of the Trick Ropers."


Rose married Weldon Bascom. He was a cowboy. In 1935, he and his brother held a rodeo. It was the first to be held outside at night where electric lights were used. Weldon was a reporter. He wrote for a rodeo magazine.
