Thanksgiving at the PHC

Thanksgiving, Tim thought to himself. What am I going to write about Thanksgiving?

Tim sat at a desk in the large observation room of the Permanent Human Colony -- PHC for short. His dad was the director of this facility, and it was a one-of-a-kind underwater research community. Tim, along with several other families, lived, worked, and went to school here every day as they made their home on the ocean floor.

Tim had the rest of the week off from school, but for a homework assignment, he was required to write a report on what Thanksgiving meant to him.

"I thought I'd find you here," said Lori as she walked into the observation room. "So have you started your report yet?"

Lori was in the same class as Tim, and she and her family had lived on the PHC almost as long as Tim had.

"No, I was trying to think about that now. I wanted to try to get it out of the way before all of the activities for the holiday get underway," said Tim.

"Activities? What activities?" asked Lori.

"Well, I just mean tomorrow when we meet up with our families for the Thanksgiving dinner," said Tim. "Oops, it looks like you didn't hear about that yet."

"I have no idea what you are talking about," said Lori.
