The Black Hills

The Black Hills are really a small mountain range in the Great Plains area of the United States. They are located in southwestern South Dakota and eastern Wyoming. Some of the tallest mountains east of the Rocky Mountains are in the Black Hills.


People come from all over the world to the Black Hills. Here they can see Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Custer State Park, and the Crazy Horse Memorial (the largest unfinished sculpture in the world). The Black Hills hosts the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally each August.


Many movies, like Dances with Wolves, have been made in the Black Hills.
