The First Fourth

"Uncle Josh, I know you are a major league history buff, but aren't you carrying things a little too far?"

Dan gestured to the long outdated clothes of the late 1700s that his uncle was wearing, complete with a three-cornered hat.

"Actually," said Uncle Josh, "I'm planning a very special trip."

"Where would you wear an outfit like that?" asked Dan.

"The question isn't really where but when," said his uncle.

"That's crazy," said Dan. "You're talking about time travel. That's impossible."

"Actually, it's not," replied Uncle Josh calmly. "My Electro Quantum Bubble can do just that. Where do you think I get these clothes?" He brushed some lint from his shoulder. "By the way," he continued, "I got some clothes that should fit you, as well. Want to come?"

Dan wasn't sure what to say. Had Uncle Josh taken a flying leap off the mental health deep end, or had he truly invented a way to travel through time? A shiver of fear prickled his neck, but it was nothing like the wave of excitement he felt over the possibilities. Before he could think himself out of it, Dan nodded.
