The Fox and the Crow

A fox and a crow both lived in the woods beyond the marketplace. Many people sold food at the market. It was the perfect place for a pair of thieving animals to find a free meal!

One afternoon, the fox lazed under a bush. With one eye open, he saw the crow snatch a piece of cheese and fly up onto the low branch of a tree. With both eyes open, the fox hurried out from under the bush. He looked up at the crow.

"Hello there, Brother Crow!" he called. "Your feathers are looking quite glossy and fine today!"
