Safety Pin Day

Reading Comprehension for September 30

"There is nothing to do," said Jake.

"We cannot play outside," said Alex. "It is raining."

"Can you play with your toys?" asked Ann, their baby-sitter.

The boys shook their heads.

"We are tired of playing with our toys," said Alex.

"We want to play a game with you," said Jake.

"What kind of game do you want to play?" asked Ann.

"We do not know," said Jake. "Can you think of one?"

"Let me see," said Ann. "We could play the straw-fish game later. Let's play a thinking game first. Go and sit at the table."

The two boys sat across from each other. Ann gave each of them a piece of paper and a pencil.
