Youth United to Build Houses

Habitat for Humanity builds homes for those in need all over the world. They build homes for people who cannot afford a home of their own. Volunteers raise money. Other volunteers give their time and energy to build a safe home for a family in need. Many people believe that adults are the only ones who can help. Youth United was created so kids can make a difference, too.

Habitat for Humanity International was started in 1976. The organization was started to help people in need have homes they can afford. Habitat homes are not given to people. The receiver of the home is required to help build his/her house and other houses. They pay for their own home. The amount is set so the family can afford it. Each month the family makes a payment. The money goes into a fund. It is called the Fund for Humanity. Money from this fund is used to build homes for others.
