Ornithomimus

Ornithomimus (OR-nith-oh-MY-mus) was a small dinosaur whose name means "bird mimic." Its body looked very much like an ostrich's, except that it had a long tail. It had hollow bones, like today's birds, and a bird-like skull. Like an ostrich, it was probably a speedy runner.


Ornithomimus had a small head, large eyes, and a long neck. It had a fairly large brain, and so it was an intelligent dinosaur. There were three toes on each foot. It had a beak-like mouth with no teeth. It had a long, stiff tail and walked on its two long, slender back legs. Its long, slender "arms" had hands with three fingers ending in long, slender claws. It could have been twenty feet .....
