1 Have you ever felt an earthquake? Even if you've never felt one, there is a good chance that you've been in one. It is estimated that there are 500,000 earthquakes detected every year. These occur all over the world. But not all quakes are created equal. Only 1/5 of quakes are strong enough to be felt. Out of those felt, only 100 are strong enough to cause damage. If you someday find yourself in one of those 100 quakes, do you know what to do? You should drop, cover, and hold on. First, drop down to the ground. This will help to keep you away from tripping hazards. Next, take cover under something sturdy. Hiding under a table or desk is a great choice.
