Lake Clark National Park and Preserve
By Meg Leonard

1     Lake Clark National Park and Preserve is in Alaska. It is in the southern part of the state. The park protects beautiful scenery. It protects fish and wildlife. It protects watersheds for red salmon. The traditional way of life for the local people is also protected by Lake Clark.

2     Two active volcanoes are found in the park. They are Iliamna and Mount Redoubt. Iliamna has not erupted in recent times. However, it is often seen steaming. Mount Redoubt had twenty-three explosive events in less than one year. This was between December of 1989 and April of 1990. In March 2009, it erupted again. It appears to be settling down.
