1     We have five senses to help us understand the world around us. We use them all, but we rely on one more than all the others - our sense of sight. We use our sense of sight in almost everything that we do. We use our sense of sight to guide our movements. We use it to identify people, places, and things. We use our sense of sight to learn by reading books and watching others. We learn to depend on our sense of sight.
 
2     Our eyes give us the ability to see. They work best when there is plenty of light. Light bounces off everything in its path. Dark colors absorb some light. Light colors absorb very little light. The rest of the light is reflected. When we look at something, we see the light that is being reflected off of it. Light enters the eye. It goes all the way to the back of the eye to a part of the eye called the .....
