The Exploration of a Report
By Mary Lynn Bushong

1     "Okay, class, that will be all for today," said Miss Reed as she started to erase the blackboard. "Oh, don't forget to put your homework in your backpacks." Then she turned back around to face the class and said, "Remember, your reports are due next week on your favorite explorer. Refer to the handouts that I gave you, and class, make this a fun assignment. See you all tomorrow."

2     Jerome stuffed his books in his backpack and headed towards the door.

3     "Hey, wait for me, Jerome," said Andy as he slung his backpack over his shoulder. "Wow, that was some game today in gym class, wasn't it? I wasn't sure we were going to win until the last minute," Andy said.

4     "Yes, me either. I sure was glad Jeff hit that home run. That let both of us bring in runs," said Jerome with a smile.

5     The two boys walked outside to wait for their bus. "Have you decided who you are going to do your explorer report on?" asked Andy. "I think I have it narrowed down to a choice between two, but I can't decide."
