The Childhood of Our First President

1 He was a surveyor. He was a planter. He joined the military and became a general during the Revolutionary War. Then he went on to become the first President of the United States. But before all of that, George Washington was a child. George Washington was born on February 22, 1732. He was one of ten children. He was born in Virginia. He went to school at a church near his home. He was later sent to boarding school. George learned basic subjects. He learned manners. He also learned how to be a farmer, which he liked. His father died when George was eleven years old. He moved quite often, living with different relatives. |
