1 A rock is a mix of two or more minerals. You need minerals to make rocks, but you don't need rocks to make minerals. Think of a rock like an oatmeal-chocolate chip-walnut cookie. The cookie is a mix of ingredients. Some of them can easily be seen, like the oats, chocolate chips, and nuts. Some can't be distinguished, like the eggs, butter, sugar, and flour. Most rocks have several different ingredients, or minerals. In some rocks, the minerals can't be seen as separate ingredients. .....![]() |
