¹     "Mom," I whispered, "that lady just got all of those clothes for free!"

²     "What do you mean?" my mom asked.

³     "She didn't give the clerk any money. All she did was smile and hand him a card. The man didn't even keep it. He looked at it, swiped it on a machine, and gave it right back to her. You need one of those, Mom!"

⁴     My mom tried not to giggle as she explained what I had seen. "Scott, the lady did not get those things for free. She used her credit card to pay for them."
