Exotic Pets
By Cathy Pearl

1     When people start searching for a pet, not everyone wants a cat or a dog. Some people want something that is different from everyone else. These animals, like snakes and spiders, are called exotic pets.

2     Getting an exotic pet is a big decision. These animals often need special care that people aren't used to giving. If you decide to get an exotic pet, you need to make sure that you will be able to take care of it.

3     Don't get an exotic pet because you think it is cool or because you want to impress your friends. These are the wrong reasons to get any pet, not just an exotic one. Make sure that you have the time and money to take care of an unusual animal.

4     Whatever pet you decide to get, make sure that it is legal. There are animals that are not allowed to live in certain cities. Don't get a pet thinking you can hide it. Someone always finds out. Then you will be faced with the problem of moving or finding a new home for your pet.
