8     She had brown pencils.
 
9     She had white pencils.
 
10     She even had one black pencil!
 
11     Peg really liked pencils!
 
12     One day Peg's mother said, "Peg, I need a pencil. May I have a red pencil?"
 
13     "Yes, Mother," Peg said. "I have ten red pencils. I will give you one. Then I will have nine red pencils left."
