1 Sarah wanted to watch her favorite television show. She sat down on the sofa. She picked up the remote. Sarah went channel by channel. She could not find the show she wanted to watch. She knew that it came on each day at the same time. Sarah got upset. Sarah's mother suggested that she look in the TV Guide. Sarah looked. She found out that her show was now on at a different time. Sarah played with her sister until her show came on.
2 TV Guide is a magazine. It is smaller than a regular magazine. It is published once a week. Readers find TV listings. They read TV news and interviews. There are movie reviews. TV Guide also has a weekly crossword puzzle.
3 TV Guide was first published on April 3, 1953. The cost was fifteen cents. It could be found at check-out counters in grocery stores. By the 1960s, it was the most-read magazine. Readers subscribed to the magazine. Each week a new edition was mailed to homes. By the 1970s, TV Guide had its own commercials. It gave viewers a preview for the next edition.
