2     Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Company was started by two friends. Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield met in junior high school. They met each other in gym class. They were running on the school track. They became fast friends. Ben and Jerry were born in 1951 in New York. They were born just four days apart.

Ben also remembers that his father liked to mix things into his ice cream. He would crush up cookies. He would mix in candies. One of Ben's first jobs was being an ice cream man. He drove a truck.
