1     What would it be like to live in a desert? A desert gets little rainfall. Not too many things grow there. The temperatures are usually harsh. A desert is an empty place.
 
2     Many people think of sand when they hear the word desert. Some may think of cactus. What about ice?
 
3     Antarctica has been called an ice desert. It gets little rainfall. Not a lot grows there. The temperatures are very cold. It is empty. Most of it is covered by ice. Experts say that it is the largest desert in the world.
