Fire Prevention

By Kathleen W. Redman
1     Fire is an important part of everyday life. Fire has probably done something good for you today. Maybe it was used to cook a meal for you. It also keeps you warm. Sometimes, people enjoy a fire just to look at. Fireplaces in houses and outside campfires can be lots of fun.

2     Fire can be very useful. It can also be very dangerous. Did you know that it takes a lot of work to keep a fire safe? You must be careful around fire and things that can start fires. Do you know how to stay safe around fire?

3     First of all, it's important never to play with fire. Matches and lighters can seem fun. They can start fires, though. They're really only for grownups. If you see matches or lighters somewhere, you should tell an adult.
