Left Handed, Disadvantaged?

By Beth Beutler
"I wish I hadn't been born left-handed," Jeremy complained to his sister Jessica.

     "Why?"

"So many of my friends play sports with their right hand," Jeremy answered. "I have to do everything the opposite way. I pitch lefty, I hit lefty, and I even bowl lefty."

"What's wrong with that?" Jessica asked.

"I wish I could play as well as everyone else. Being left-handed keeps me from doing as well."

Jessica looked at her brother skeptically. She had seen him play sports like baseball, and he had always done just as well as anyone else. In fact, he was a great pitcher. She wondered if something else was wrong.

"Is something the matter?" Jessica asked.

     "Why do you ask?"

"I've just never heard you complain about not doing well in sports. I've watched you. You are great!"
