1 September is International People Skills Month. Being able to look at people's faces and tell what they're feeling is a people skill. It doesn't matter what language you speak, where you live, or what your job is, the expressions you show for anger, fear, sadness, disgust, surprise, contempt, and happiness will be the same. You share these expressions with all human beings and many of them with the great apes.
2 Think about all the people you talk to in one day. Not long after you wake up, you probably talk to someone in your family. A mom, dad, brother, or sister might want to know what you're doing today. There's more talk on the way to school - maybe you talk to friends on the bus. At school, there's plenty of talking. Do you think you could count all the people you talk to every day?
3 In all that talking, there's a lot said. Words are put together to make complete thoughts, ideas, and stories. But there's a lot more to talking than just words. Do you ever pay attention to how people stand or look when they talk?
