By Kathleen W. Redman
1 "Dear Stephen," the letter began. "Today was an exciting day."
2 Marcus's father had given him a very old letter to read. Marcus's dad said it was written to his great-great-grandfather, Stephen. Marcus read on.
3 "Today is New Year's Day. It is unlike any New Year's Day I have seen. I attended a beautiful parade in Pasadena, California. After the marvelous parade, I went to what was called the Tournament East-West Football Game at Pasadena Park. I saw the University of Michigan team defeat Stanford University.
