It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over
By Kathleen W. Redman 1 What does it mean to be dependable? Someone or something that's dependable can be counted on to do something. A dependable friend might be someone who's always there when you need to talk about something important. A dependable car would be one that always gets you where you need to go. Being a dependable person is very important. 2 Sports teams need dependable players. In baseball, teams need dependable players to pitch, to catch the ball, and to hit the ball. In fact, there's a name for a hitter who's better than anyone else on his team. He's called a "clutch hitter". He's the hitter who can score points when no one else can. One of the most famous clutch hitters in all of baseball is a player named Yogi Berra. 3 Yogi Berra was born May 12, 1925, as Lawrence Peter Berra in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew up across the street from a kid named Joe Garagiola. (Like Yogi, Joe became one of baseball's greatest players.)
