Hot Dog Trivia
By Phyllis Naegeli
1 Hot dogs are a favorite food in America. There is even a National Hot Dog and Sausage Council! The Council keeps track of information about this "comfort food." You can find information galore on its website. Let's take a look at some hot dog trivia.
2 You can find hot dogs almost anywhere. Hot dogs mainly come in packages of eight to ten. They are sold in supermarkets and corner stores. Street vendors, restaurants, sports stadiums, and many other locations offer steaming hot dogs all ready to enjoy. There are so many places to buy hot dogs; the Council can't say exactly how many hot dogs are consumed each year. But it estimates that we each eat 60 hot dogs a year!
3 Hot dogs are a staple at baseball games and summer barbeques. From little leagues to the majors, you will be able to find these treats to enjoy during the game. The Council surveyed the major league parks to estimate the number of hot dogs sold each year. It seems fans really like these treats. It is estimated that 27.5 million hot dogs will be enjoyed this year at major league ballparks across America.
