By Jody Williams
1     What is peace? Peace is quiet. Peace is calm. Peace is not fighting. September 21st is a day to celebrate peace. It is called the International Day of Peace. That means that countries all over the world take part.

2     The Day of Peace was started in 1981. The United Nations came up with the idea. The United Nations is a group of people from different countries. They help keep peace in the world. They help people feel safe.
