My Kayaking Trip
By Beth Beutler 1 I went on a kayak for the first time on Wednesday. My older brother and I were at Camp Hokenhobben for two weeks right after school let out. We were allowed to choose from several activities, and one of them was kayaking. 2 We were to meet the kayak guide at the shore of Lake Genesis where the camp was located. Then we would paddle across the lake and into a river fed by the lake. 3 When we got there, the guide assigned us each to a kayak, gave us a life jacket apiece, and a paddle. I hooked up my life jacket and stepped into the kayak. It rolled a little, but I kept my balance. I slid down into it, stretched out my legs, and before he gently pushed my boat into the lake, the guide handed me my paddle.
