2     Fats are another source of energy. Your body depends on fat cells for energy storage. Fat cells also protect your body against temperature changes. Fats insulate the body from too much heat or cold. Fats also carry certain vitamins in your bloodstream. Vitamins A, E, D, and K are called fat-soluble. They help keep you healthy. Yet fats are high in calories. Eating more calories than your body can use causes weight gain. This may lead to other health problems. Sources of fats are butter, eggs, red meat, and many cheeses. Some kinds of fats are better for your body than others. Saturated fats can cause heart disease and certain types of cancer. Trans fats are very bad for your body. You should avoid eating trans fats. Trans fats are found in fried foods, margarines, baked goods, .....
