1     Have you ever had a bad day? Alexander can relate. Once he woke up with gum in his hair. Then he tripped over a skateboard. After that he dropped his sweater in the sink. He also used to be rich. He used to have a dollar. But now he only has bus tokens. His older brothers never have any problems. Their names are Nick and Anthony. Their lives seem perfect . . . at least to Alexander! Judith Viorst is the famous author who brought Alexander and his terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day (and all of his other trials!) to life.
 
2     Mrs. Viorst was born in 1931. She tells people that she has been writing forever. When she was eight she wrote a poem for her dead parents. But they weren't dead! They were alive and well. And they weren't happy! When they read her poem they were annoyed! Now, however, people aren't annoyed by her writing. They .....
