The Crittercam
By Cindy Grigg

1     If you've seen the movie, March of the Penguins, you may have wondered how the nature documentary was filmed. Footage from Crittercam was used in making the Oscar-winning film.

2     What is Crittercam? It is a small video camera that can be fitted onto a wild animal. The camera sees what the animal sees. Using Crittercam, scientists have learned about the feeding habits of Hawaiian monk seals. They have studied lions in Africa. They've studied sea turtles, penguins, and whales. They have even used the Crittercam to search the deep oceans for the giant squid.
