2     In some ways, Mercury is a planet of opposites. It has sizzling hot days. It has bitterly cold nights. It moves quickly through space moving around the sun. But it turns slowly on its axis. It has short years and long days. Its days are blindingly bright. Its nights are pitch black. Keep reading to learn more about this planet of opposites.
 
3     Mercury is only a little larger than Earth's moon. It is the smallest of our eight planets. It is also the fastest planet in our solar system. Mercury zips along its path around the sun at a speed of about 106,000 mph!
