1     My mom has a job. She works at a restaurant. Each week she earns a paycheck. She uses that money to buy groceries and other things that our family needs. My grandpa, however, doesn't have a job. He retired a few years ago. He doesn't get a weekly paycheck like my mom. Like many retired adults, my grandpa lives on his Social Security benefits. Social Security was created by the federal government to provide financial support for retired workers. It also provides money to people who are disabled and unable to work. Social Security is like a savings account that the government has for retired and injured citizens. Employees and employers both contribute to this giant federal fund. Employers pay Social Security taxes for each of their employees .....
