A Day in the Park

"Wow, this is such a beautiful day. The sun is warm, the air is fresh, and I get to be near Jamie all day," said Heather as she put on a pair of work gloves.

"Aren't you Little Miss Sunshine? I knew there was a reason you volunteered us for the park cleanup day," said Rachel. "We'll see how bubbly you are at the end of the day. You do realize you have to actually do some work today, don't you? I mean, you can't just stare at Jamie all day."

"I know that. I am here to do the work, but it doesn't hurt to have an excuse to be near Jamie while I do it," remarked Heather.

When Mrs. Hampton passed the signup sheet around in class last week, Heather seemed very anxious to get on the list for volunteering. She had talked Rachel into joining her. She explained how it would be good for class credit and how it would benefit the park. Rachel didn't know at the time that Jamie planned to participate.
