I don't like to get sick. It is not fun. Sometimes when I am sick I get a fever. My head feels hot but I still have the chills. No matter how hard I try, I can't get my shivers to go away. What is a fever? A fever is not an illness. It is a symptom. A fever tells me that my body is fighting off an infection. Infections can be caused by bacteria or viruses. When I am sick, a fever can be very helpful. It helps my white blood cells. These cells are a lot like soldiers. They are sent to the sick parts of my body ready for battle. Their job is to fight off any infection I may have. White blood cells work best in warm environments. By keeping my body warm, my fever helps .....
