A Halloween Letter

October 31, 1925

My dear niece Annabel,

I am writing this letter to you after last night's wonderful Halloween party that was held at my dear friend Cornelia and her husband John's house. The party began the day before Halloween so that we could spend two days enjoying the festivities. We arrived yesterday afternoon, and I was escorted to the third floor and into the Watson Room.

Annabel, you will not believe how beautiful everything is. We enjoyed supper in the grand banquet hall. The food was delicious. Everywhere one looks there are Halloween and harvest decorations. The table was laid out with pumpkins and festive flowers of all colors.

Last night after supper, all of the guests were escorted downstairs to the basement where Cornelia and John had set up a lavish game room. On the walls were hand-painted scenes put there by John and Cornelia and some of their friends. They called this room the Halloween Room.
