A Model of Earth

Draw a circle. Divide the circle into four sections. You can do this by drawing two lines. Draw the first line from the top of the circle to the bottom of the circle. Then draw the second line from the left side of the circle to the right side of the circle. Next, color three sections blue. Blue represents water on the Earth. Color the last section brown. This section represents land on the Earth. This "model" of Earth shows about how much of the Earth's surface is water and about how much of the surface is land.


Only about 30 percent of the Earth's surface is land. That's a little bigger than one of your pieces, but not much. You colored this section of your circle brown. The land is made up of seven continents. Land looks different throughout different parts of the world. .....
