Animals on the Arctic Tundra

Many different kinds of animals live on the arctic tundra. One very small animal is the lemming. Lemmings look like mice. They make their nests out of grass and moss. Lemmings live in tunnels. The bigger animals on the arctic tundra like to eat lemmings.


Arctic foxes and snowy owls both like to eat lemmings. Snowy owls are hard to see in the snow because their feathers are white. Lemmings can't see them coming. Arctic foxes are hard to see in both the summer and the winter. In the summer the foxes are brown. In winter the foxes are white.


Musk ox and caribou are two of the big animals on the arctic .....
